"Betel"

"Betel" is an international charity movement.

Its aim is to participate in the creation of civilisation of love. To assist the poor and to discover one's own poverty is regarded by "Betel" as the fundamental norm and the only truly lasting value which one can bestow on others. The "Betel" Movement sees Jesus Christ Himself in a weak and miserable person. Through numerous organizations, communities, groups, "Betel" cares for disabled, mentally retarded, sick, elderly people, children and youth from rural areas and deprived environments, helps people in poor countries.
"Betel" means constant care for inner disposition to the good. It is a tangible contribution to creation of the world of everlasting values. It is accompanying a weak human being permanently in full awareness of one's own weakness. It is finally a discovery of the horizons of the heart through adoration of a poor person.
"Betel" draws inspiration for its activity from the pages of the Gospel. Its ideas are based on the teaching of the Catholic Church.
"Betel" does not exclude members of other religions or atheists. It wants to develop in the spirit of ecumenism.
"Betel" started its activity in 1990. To address definite needs during all those years, consistently step by step a number of communities, organizations and groups have been founded, working among and for the poor and needy.

Today "Betel" consists of three types of groups assembled in:
1. Federation of Communities of Meeting, gathering families with disabled children and their friends, elderly people and integration groups of healthy and disabled youth.
2. Federation of Communities of Support, gathering groups of volunteers, children and youth from rural and poorest communities, groups and organizations working for the weak and the poor.
3. Federation of Communities of Life i.e. permanent homes where abandoned disabled children live with their foster parents.
